Coronavirus and Home Education

Schools are preparing in case they have to close due to the Coronavirus pandemic and parents should be receiving home study packs if this does happen. I am seeing lots of parents worrying about how they will keep their children entertained at home in the event of a lock down, and other parents feeling anxious about children potentially missing out on learning.

Having home educated (or rather, ‘unschooled’) my eldest daughter, I have realised just how many fantastic resources are available online. People approach home education in different ways. Some families prefer structured learning activities and others enable a self-directed approach. You can read more about self-directed learning here.

Either way, it can be useful to have access to educational resources and a list of ideas to fall back on – in case we need them in the coming weeks. We don’t know if the country will be locked down and if it is, how long we may be in isolation for.

So I have dug out and updated my list of home education resources and ideas for fun activities (most of them are free to access!) and am sharing here. I hope you find this list helpful and if you think we should add any more let us know!

This list grew rather big so I’ve transferred it into a spreadsheet – CLICK HERE TO ACCESS THE FULL LIST.
